Banter

FLOYD: Hey, Charlie, let's tell the boys and girls about the ten commandments that our
heavenly father has given us!
CHARLIE: All right.
FLOYD: Well, you sound like you're in good voice today, Charlie.
CHARLIE: (chuckles, yodels and shrieks)
FLOYD: OK, Charlie, settle down now, do you think you can tell us what the first
commandment is?
CHARLIE: Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
FLOYD: That's exactly right, Charlie. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods before Me

There's only one God in this world I know
Because the Bible tells me so
The God that rules in heaven above
The God of truth the God of love

God said always keep me number one
When you're working or playing or having fun
So the first commandment will always be
Donut ever have any god before Me

(repeat)

Banter

FLOYD: Now, Charlie what is commandment number two?
CHARLIE: After commandment number one (giggles).
FLOYD: Oh, Charlie, I know it's after commandment number one, but what is it?
CHARLIE: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
FLOYD: That's right, Charlie, thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.

Thou Shalt Not Make unto Thee Any Graven Image

Gods of gold and silver and pearls
Are simply things of this old world
To worship them would be wrong its true
And God says that it's the wrong thing to do

If you see a statue up on the sod
That someone says here's their god
Remember God's word is clear as can be
When He says no graven image of Me

He's a jealous God
He's fair, it's true
So remember that whatever you do
So no graven image should ever be shown
But just worship God and him alone

Banter

FLOYD: Charlie, do you know who the ten commandments were given to?
CHARLIE: No, Who?
FLOYD: They were given to Moses.
CHARLIE: What were they written on?
FLOYD:  They were written by God on tablets made of stone.
CHARLIE: Oh, boy! I’ll bet they were heavy!
FLOYD: I’ll bet they were heavy, too,Charlie. Now, Charlie, what about the third commandment?
CHARLIE: Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
FLOYD: That’s right, thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

Thou Shalt Not Take the Name of the Lord Thy God in Vain

The third commandment is very plain
Don’t use the name of God in vain
Because God is so holy and God is so true
So remember this commandment whatever you do

(unintelligible) close to God as you can
Trying to learn and understand
And don’t ever be guilty of this one thing
Of taking the name of God in vain
Of taking the name of God in vain

Banter

FLOYD: Hey, Charlie, what about you gettin' one of your little friends to help us on this one and let’s have some harmony, OK?  The fourth commandment is remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
CHARLIE: What’s the Sabbath day?
FLOYD: The Sabbath day is the day set aside to worship God. Now what is the fourth commandment?
CHARLIE: Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
FLOYD: That’s right, remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.

Remember the Sabbath Day to Keep It Holy
(mp3)

The Sabbath day is the holy day
So why don’t we keep it that way
If you have to work or you have to play
Don’t do it on the Sabbath day

The Sabbath day is the holy day
A day to go to church and pray
So let’s always keep it that way
The Sabbath is the holy day

The Sabbath day can be fun (ha ha)
To go to Sunday school and learn
The things that Jesus had to say
We can learn them on the Sabbath day

(repeat)

Banter

FLOYD: Now, Charlie, the fifth commandment is very important for boys and girls.  Don’t you think that’s true?
CHARLIE: That’s right, honor thy father and mother.
FLOYD: Commandment number five: honor thy father and mother.

Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother

Honor thy father and mother
Do what they tell you to do
And then you’ll know you are doing
What Jesus wants you to

Honor thy father and mother
Because you love them so
And always make them happy
As through this life you go

Honor thy father and mother
Because it’s the right thing to do
And keeping the fifth commandment
Like Jesus wants you to

(repeat)

Banter

CHARLIE: OK, Commandment number six is thou shalt not kill
FLOYD: That's right Charlie, the sixth commandment is thou shalt not kill.

Thou Shalt Not Kill

Life was given by God above
Just because of His great love
So it’s not right for a man to kill someone
And take away what God has done

The Lord he giveth and taketh away
That’s what the Bible has to say
So just leave vengeance to God and His will
And obey this commandment thou shalt not kill

Life was given by God above
Just because of His great love
So it’s not right for a man to kill someone
And take away what God has done
And take away what God has done

Thou shalt not kill

Banter

FLOYD: The seventh commandment tells us what, Charlie?
CHARLIE: Thou shalt not commit adultery.
FLOYD: That's right, commandment number seven says thou shalt not commit adultery.

Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultry

Mommies and daddies should always be
Living together in harmony
And love one another
And always be true
Like the seventh commandment tells them to

For better or worse
Is what they both said
The day that they two were wed
So committing adultry is wrong they know
Because the Bible tells them so
Because the Bible tells them so

Banter

FLOYD: Charlie, if you took something that belonged to someone else, what would you be doing?
CHARLIE: Stealing.
FLOYD: So what does the eighth commandment say about that?
CHARLIE: Thou shalt not steal.
FLOYD: That's right, Charlie, the eighth commandment says thou shalt not steal.

Thou Shalt Not Steal

Thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not steal
It’s not God's wish, it’s not His will
It was true back then and it’s true still
When the eighth commandment says thou shalt not steal

If something belongs to someone else
Don’t try to take it for yourself
This commandment was written for me and for you
So don't ever steal, whatever you do

Thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not steal
It’s not God's wish, it’s not His will
It was true back then and it’s true still
When the eighth commandment says thou shalt not steal

Stealing is wrong, this much I know
Because the Bible tells me so
If God says it’s so, I know that it’s real
The eighth commandment says thou shalt not steal

Thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not steal
It’s not God's wish, it’s not His will
It was true back then and it’s true still
When the eighth commandment says thou shalt not steal

Banter

FLOYD: Commandment number nine says thou shalt not bear false witness.  Do you know what that means, Charlie?
CHARLIE: Why sure, you should always be truthful, and not tell lies.
FLOYD: That’s exactly right, thou shalt not bear false witness.

Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness

You must not tell lies, it’s the wrong thing to do
Even if it does seem right, don’t say it unless it’s true
A lie can hurt someone, so don’t let those rumors fly
So whatever you may do, you must not tell lies

You must not tell lies, it’s the wrong thing to do
Even if it does seem right, don’t say it unless it’s true
A lie can hurt someone, so don’t let those rumors fly
So whatever you may do, you must not tell lies (um hmm)
You must not tell lies (oh no)
You must not tell lies (don’t ya do it)
You must not tell lies (um hmm)

Banter

FLOYD: Charlie, what is the tenth commandment?
CHARLIE: The last one!
FLOYD:   I know it’s the last commandment, Charlie, but what does it say?
CHARLIE: Thou shalt not covet!
FLOYD: That’s exactly right, thou shalt not covet.

Thou Shalt Not Covet

If something belongs to someone else
You shouldn’t want it for yourself
Be happy for them ‘cause that’s the right way
And what the tenth commandment has to say

(repeat)

The Ten Commandments

Moses went up on the mountain alone
And came down with two tablets that were made of stone
On the stones were written the laws so clear
The ten commandments for mankind to hear

The ten commandments, the law of God
For every man that came from the sod
So always follow them as close as you can
The ten commandments were written for man

If you’ve broken one commandment, you’ve broken them all
So listen one and listen all
But you can still get to heaven, hear what I say
Just follow Jesus and he’ll show you the way!  (ha ha ha!)

Banter

FLOYD: OK, Charlie, what about getting’ your cousins, Stanley and Huey together now and let's play some instrumentals, OK?
CHARLIE: O.K., I’m ready! A-one, a-two, a-three…
